JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern – Check Marking scheme and New Changes here

JEE Main 2025 exam pattern revised: The national testing agency (NTA) has started the JEE Main registration process for the January session examination. Candidates can fill the application form till 22 November 2024.

The NTA has released JEE Main 2025 dates along with the official brochure. The session 1 exams will be held between 22nd January to 31st January 2025 and for 2nd session, exams will be organised from 01st April to 08th April 2025.

New Changes in the JEE Exam Pattern

For 2025 examinations, NTA has made a key change in the JEE Main examination pattern. The Section B of question paper will have only 5 questions and candidates are required to attempt all 5 questions without any options for selection.

NTA has recently released a notice regarding this change in the examination pattern and confirmed that it will be effective from 2025 onwards.

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of JEE Main contains complete details of the types of questions asked in the paper, marking scheme, number of questions, subjects and examination mode.

Below is the detailed examination pattern for JEE Main Paper 1, JEE Main Paper 2 A, JEE Main Paper 2 B.

JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech) Exam Pattern

The JEE Main will contain questions from Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics subjects. 

The paper will have 20 objective type questions and 5 numeric type questions containing 5 marks each.

The paper will have a total of 75 questions, carrying 300 marks. The total exam duration is 3 hours and additional 1 hour will be given to the candidates having 40% disability.

There will be negative marking for both section A and Section B (except drawing test). For each correct answer, 4 marks will be rewarded and for every wrong answer 1 marks will be deducted.

For each question in section B, candidates will have to enter a correct integer value.

JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch) Exam Pattern

The JEE Main Paper 2 A is conducted for admission to Bachelor of architecture (B.Arch) courses. 

JEE Main Paper 2 B.Arch comprises subjects – mathematics, aptitude test and drawing test.

There will be a total 77 questions in the paper carrying 400 marks. The aptitude test will have 50 questions, the Mathematics section will have 25 questions and the drawing test will have 2 questions.

In the Mathematics and Aptitude test each question will carry 4 marks and the drawing test will have two questions of 50 marks each.

JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Plan) Exam Pattern

The Paper 2 (B.Plan) will have Part 1 Mathematics containing 25 questions carrying 100 marks, part II aptitude test will have 50 questions carrying 200 marks and part III planning based questions will have 25 questions carrying 100 marks. 

For each question in section B, candidates will have to enter a correct integer value.
