JEE Main 2025 Eligibility Criteria – Age, Qualification and Attempt Limit

JEE Main 2025 Eligibility Criteria: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2025 examinations. Candidates looking for admission in the B.E./B.Tech courses through JEE Main must check the eligibility conditions before filling the application form.

The registration for JEE Main 2025 January session has started from 28 October and last date to fill the application form is 22 November 2024. The session 2 i.e. April session application will be released by authority on 31 January 2025.

JEE Main 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates registering for JEE Main 2025, should meet the eligibility guidelines as stated below:

Nationality

  • Candidates must be Indian Citizens.
  • Candidates having NRIs, PIOs, OCIs & Foreign national status are also eligible to apply.

Age Criteria

For appearing in JEE Main 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates.

For admission to a particular institute or university, candidates have to fulfil the age criteria of the Institutes to which they are desirous of taking admission.

Year of appearance in the Qualifying Examination

Candidates who have passed the Class XII or equivalent examination in 2023, 2024 or those who are appearing in the Class XII or equivalent examination in 2025, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025.

Candidates who passed the Class XII / equivalent examination in 2022 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025.

Educational Qualification

For appearing in JEE Main examination, candidates must passed or appearing in the final year of any of the below mentioned qualifying exams:

  • Candidates must have passed/appearing in Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/
    University
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • In case the Class XII Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who have completed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the class XII examination.

State Code of Eligibility

State code of eligibility is the state from where the candidate has passed the Class XII (or equivalent) qualifying examination. Candidates have to choose that state while filling the application form for JEE Main 2025.

Candidates passed/appearing for Class XII from NIOS should select the state of eligibility according to the State in which the study Centre is located.

Eligibility for admission in IITs, NITs and CFTIs

The candidates looking for admission in IITs, NITs and CFTIs for B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Plan courses must have scored at least 75% marks in 12th conducted by respective boards (65% for ST/ SC) OR must be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12th exam conducted by respective board.

Apart from this, the students must pass in each of the subjects of class 12th or the qualifying exam.
